Position Description :
The Mechanical Supervisor oversees the repair and installation work conducted by mechanics. This position assures that work is properly planned, budgeted, inspected, and executed in a safe, cost effective, and timely manner, to ensure reliable and efficient plant operations. The position reports to the Sr. Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities :
Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department.
Evaluates systems, machinery, or facilities to determine maintenance repairs that need to be performed.
Assigns jobs to maintenance department staff and creates work schedules to ensure that coverage for possible machine breakdown is maintained at all times.
Inspects machinery installed and repaired by mechanics.
Maintains logs of machine repair and maintenance activities and tracks mechanics’ production.
Ensures the spare parts inventory is at adequate inventory levels.
Manages the work order system, work order back logs, and monitors and oversees preventative/predictive maintenance activities.
Performs administrative tasks that include timecard processing and administering employee performance and corrective actions, in accordance with company policy.
Selects, trains, and manages a workforce to maintain mechanics who are flexible in skills, cross trained, technically capable to ensure an effective and motivated team, and to develop personal growth opportunities.
Ensures compliance with all safety and environmental practices, as established by the company.
Position Requirements :
High school diploma or GED equivalent, with a minimum of five (5) years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience, is required.
Proven experience in developing and implementing a preventive maintenance system and related metrics.
Familiarity with maintenance of gas and/or steam turbine generators and rotating equipment.
Professional with competencies in organization, leadership, time management, ownership of repair and preventative maintenance projects are essential.
Strong verbal and written communication, and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Projects, PeopleSoft/ALM asset management and data management software is a plus.
Knowledge with industry safety practices, recognizing hazards, and developing and maintaining awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Aptitude to identify root causes of issues and make sound business decision.
Capable to meet all the physical job requirements, including but not limited to working from heights, climbing, performing work in extreme conditions, and the usage of required personal protective equipment, including a respirator.
Able to respond to call-outs or emergencies, including being on call.
