Fab Lab Coventry provides a unique and informal city-centre space for bringing together local citizens, university students, employers and SMEs, to provide digital and traditional manufacturing skills training, work experience opportunities and access to production equipment.
This post will work on the European Social Funded, Succeed project and Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, MyCoventry Project. The Succeed project, which is funded to engage with over 450 local citizens and support them to move towards, or into employment, through skills enhancement and mentoring, through barrier breaking support to improve the employability of long-term unemployed people aged 16+ living in Coventry.
The MyCoventry project, which is funded to engage with over 170 third country nationals (including 40 young people) and support them to become more integrated in Coventry,
through involvement in community initiatives, skills enhancement and mentoring.
Coventry University’s Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations (CTPSR) and Fab Lab Coventry have a particular interest in delivering vocationally focused skills provision, so
participants can better ‘compete in the local labour market and adapt to changes in the economy. FabLab Coventry will also support with enabling integration, raising awareness of
the world of work, employer expectations, and host volunteer placements.
The FabLab Coventry Mentor is responsible for helping participants identify and achieve their ambitions and make the most of the FabLab Coventry and project partnerships offer to them.
You’ll reach out to local citizens, engaging with them to help them articulate and create their individual action plan, translating the FabLab Coventry project activities into a plan of action against which progress can be tracked evaluated and achieved.
By partnering and collaboratively working with participants to achieve their ambitions through your 1:1 relationship, you will give them control and confidence over their own learning
journey. You’ll pro-actively monitor each student’s progress against their plan and manage your caseload, prioritising appropriate interventions and working closely with the FabLab Coventry team to ensure a seamless experience for the participant.
As part of this role you will be expected to travel around Coventry.
