The Role
This role is a back-end focused software engineering role in a team that manages data pipelines and business system integrations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Driving forward the development of our data analytics technology stack. This involves Node.js development, Postgres databases, Meltano, DBT and Redshift.
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of our Node.js backend systems.
- Writing clean, easily maintainable code to meet system requirements, system designs and technical specifications.
- Writing, updating and maintaining technical programs, documentation and operational procedures.
- Identifying, planning, designing and implementing high quality technical solutions and improvements to our data analytics and reporting systems in order to deliver accurate, insightful and timely results across significant datasets.
- Developing back-end JavaScript code to a high standard.
- Integrating with external CRM and Subscription Management systems.
- Working on two-week sprints within your squad in collaboration with your team of software engineers and a product owner
- Manual and automated testing of system changes.
- Ensuring code quality and health by performing code reviews, and helping to refine, develop and implement styles and standards.
- Interacting with internal stakeholders to assess their needs.
Desirable skills and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in software engineering or equivalent practical experience
- 3-7 years of experience as a software engineer, developer, or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience as a back-end or full-stack engineer delivering production-ready systems using modern technologies.
- Solid SQL skills, ideally Postgresql.
- A good working knowledge of Docker.
- A minimum 2 years demonstrated experience with JavaScript, Flow or Typescript
- Proven debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute as part of a team
- A demonstrated love of clean, maintainable code
- Initiative and ability to self-manage your own workload
- Self-motivation and ability to self learn in a remote workplace
- Positive attitude and team player
- Innovative problem solving abilities
You Might Also Bring
- Familiarity with Cloud services such as AWS
- Knowledge or experience with RESTful APIs
- Microservices & serverless architecture experience
- Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) & test-driven development (TDD)
- Sound security understanding, and the ability to know when to pause and escalate
- Experience in analytics, data pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes and BI tooling.
