The In Call Experience team is responsible for our core video calling product, ensuring that our users continue to experience high quality, reliable and secure calls, while providing innovative collaborative interactions, and a great user experience. This is a critical component of our customer offering. You will be working with a large variety of cutting edge technologies and pushing the limits of the browser to deliver the future of Telehealth.

The Role

As a WebRTC Software Engineer your responsibilities will include:

• Creating, improving and maintaining our front client side code, implementing visually specified designs, working across multiple services and repositories with common UI libraries and several different front-end technologies.
• Driving forward the development of our WebRTC stack with a general goal of improving call-quality and user experience. This includes our front-end WebRTC user interface, as well as connections to backend systems such as our proprietary signaling server, open source TURN servers, open source SIP gateways to connect with traditional SIP endpoints and the telephone network, and a proprietary backend recording system using open source software where possible.
• Working on fortnightly sprints within your squad in collaboration with your team of software engineers, a product owner and support from UX and QA.
• Identifying, planning, designing and implementing high quality technical solutions and improvements across both supporting front and back-end systems.
• Ensuring code quality and health by ensuring appropriate automated test coverage over your work, as well as contributing to our high performing engineering team by performing code reviews, and helping to refine, develop and implement styles and standards.

You’ll Bring:

• 3 -5 years of experience as a software engineer, developer, or equivalent technical experience
• Experience of a full-stack engineer delivering production-ready systems using modern technologies
• A minimum 3 years strong demonstrated experience with React.js, Typescript or other frontend frameworks and tools
• Node.js or other languages for backend development
• Proven debugging and troubleshooting skills
• A demonstrated love of clean, maintainable code
• Initiative and ability to self-manage your own workload
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute as part of a team

You might have these skills, but if you don’t, we’ll teach you:

• Familiarity with Cloud services such as AWS

• Knowledge or experience with Restful APIs, microservices & serverless architecture experience, docker and related tools

• Experience with deployment tools like Webpack or Gulp, testing experience using frameworks like Selenium or playwright

• Familiarity with Agile practices, especially Scrum and Sprint software lifecycles

• Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery (CICD) & test-driven development (TDD)

• Sound security understanding, and the ability to know when to pause and escalate

• Understanding of SOLID principles
