Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) is playing an increasingly important role at CPI Card Group and with our stakeholders, including customers, employees, investors, and our Board of Directors. The Director of ESG’s primary responsibilities will be to lead ESG reporting processes and sustainability initiatives.
This role will lead company efforts in all areas of ESG reporting, including the annual ESG report and in setting ESG goals and gathering and reporting performance data. The role serves as a thought leader on ESG reporting and disclosures to ensure the company is up-to-date on ESG reporting frameworks and disclosures, standards, and trends, and is providing clear and transparent disclosure of our ESG policies, commitments, programs and practices with our stakeholders.
The Director of ESG will also help to create buy-in for critical initiatives and ensure alignment with CPI’s overall and ESG strategy. They will be integral to evolving the company’s long term ESG & Sustainability strategy and roadmap. They will help create and execute initiatives that drive the company’s performance on material ESG issues. The ideal candidate has proven subject-matter expertise in ESG, deep experience in project management, and is analytical, collaborative, proactive, and driven.
ESG Metrics and Reporting
Develop company’s ESG reporting practices aligned with company-wide goals, stakeholder needs, and external reporting frameworks and requirements.
Lead creation and publication of the company’s annual ESG report and other public disclosures.
Lead strategy for inclusion in ESG-related indices and submission process for data collected by leading ESG research and ratings firms
Help develop and maintain an ESG scorecard for functional leaders and the executive team.
Apply relevant standards and frameworks (e.g. SASB, GRI, SDGs) to the Company’s ESG and environmental sustainability effort and reporting
Lead ESG-focused external engagements with investors and ESG rating agencies and responsible for developing responses to external ESG questions and requests
Lead and coordinate company-wide tools for ESG measurement and monitoring; monitor compliance with ESG-related policies
Partner with Investor Relations, OGC, and Communications teams to gather, verify, and prepare data for investor, customer, and board reports and presentations
Build and maintain an internal system for collecting all relevant ESG data across operations
Strategy
Work with team to develop the Company’s long-term ESG & Sustainability strategy and roadmap
Monitor and analyze external trends and competitor landscape for insights to inform ongoing strategy development
Initiatives
Thought leadership
Advise senior management on emerging ESG topics and best practices while maintaining a keen understanding of the broader industry landscape around sustainability developments, targets, goals, and competitive trends
Assist in ESG content including but not limited to Board of Director presentations, Company All-Hands, employee training, and other ad hoc needs
8+ years of professional experience, including time developing ESG strategy and implementing ESG initiatives that tie to strategic business objectives. Minimum of 4 years in a leadership role.
A BS/BA degree or higher in business, environment, sustainability, communications or a related field; Master’s degree a strong asset but not required
Experience in sustainability in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
Experience in ESG reporting, including third-party ESG ratings (e.g., S&P, ISS, CDP), financial reporting and sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., SASB and TCFD), and public company disclosures (e.g., Sustainability Reports, 10-Ks, proxy statements, earnings materials)
Deep knowledge in sustainability, climate change, ESG topics, and current trends
