Dairy Ireland Laboratory Technician Mogeely
Dairygold Co-Operative Society Limited is now pleased to invite applications for the positions of Lab Technician, in our QC Laboratory in Mogeely, within the Dairy Food Ingredients Division.
Reporting to the Lab Manager, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for the timely completion of testing samples ensuring accurate results are returned to the operations and quality functions to enable compliance with food safety, legal and customer requirements.
Core responsibilities for this role include:
- Carry out chemical/ microbiological analysis as per relevant plans for In Process samples.
- Take In-Process samples when required.
- Attend Weekly VM meetings, chair as required
- Participate in Continual Quality Improvement and problem-solving resolution.
- Calibration of Laboratory/ Production equipment and involvement in the set-up, commissioning and running of new Laboratory/ Production equipment, including new techniques.
- Creating and delivering training packages to Laboratory/ Production personnel.
- Auditing of Laboratory/ Production systems.
- Provide internal customers with a first-class level of service.
- Use of all software systems.
- Ordering of stocks and consumables.
- Utilise IT technology and Dairygold systems to record results.
- Sign off paperwork as required by lab standards.
- Active participation in continuous improvement activities including but not limited to 5S implementation, auditing, work groups, PSE/ RCA.
- Where applicable maintain Quality control charts to verify accuracy of testing/ instrumentation.
- Adherence to H&S requirements for all tasks.
- Assist with cover for other laboratory personnel during holiday periods of sick leave.
- Transfer to other sites to complete testing in the event of equipment breakdown or to transfer standard samples to verify accuracy of equipment at other sites.
- A flexible attitude towards moving between analytical work to office-based systems work as required.
- Drafting SOP¿s and procedures for new lab systems., when required.
- Assistance with the validation and commissioning of new laboratory equipment.
- Any other duties allocated by the laboratory manager.
Candidates for this position should possess:
- Recognised Science qualification.
- Experience in Chemical and Microbiological analysis.
- Computer literate with knowledge of Excel, Word or other MS packages.
- Experience in working as part of a team.
- A positive, can-do, resilient and flexible attitude.
- Understanding of Customer service.
- An understanding of, Laboratory Accreditation and Quality Systems would be an advantageous for this position.
