About the Role
Driver Manager
Regular/Full-time
Houlton, Maine
The Driver Manager will establish and manage all aspects of driver supervision to include routing, dispatching, monitoring, and communicating with the drivers. The Driver Manager will help direct our operations to achieve internal and external customer excellence through process development, implementation, and the effective use of tools while creating a team environment.
How You’ll Help

• Monitor drivers every hour to ensure the highest level of service to our customers using established performance metrics.
• Compile daily load reports to obtain the total number of loads hauled by your driver/fleet.
• Plan drivers on a complete tour of duty with a return trip to the home terminal to work a 10-12 hour day.
• Maintain Service Failures / On-time percentage reporting per driver.
• Manage driver’s entire duty shift hours to ensure zero Hours of Service violations.
• Monitor driver’s routes and plans to mitigate potential moving citations and report accordingly.
• Train, mentor, and build relationships with all assigned drivers.
• Create and implement a weekend rotation for drivers in order to service your assigned customers.
• Communicate with assigned Customer Service Rep and customers to create a weekend freight plan and to enhance load serviceability.
• Control and manage time off for drivers to achieve the highest utilization every day.
• Utilize a standardized passdown template to ensure proper communication of critical information.
• Resolve operational situations and driver problems to recover loads when these issues arise.
• Create and manage an accurate work history in TMW to reflect the actual activity of each driver.
• Manage freight overages, shortages and damages (OSD) containment with recording and reporting to the assigned account CSR contacts.
• Promote a culture of safety by complying with all company safety policies, practices and procedures.
• Complies with all federal, state (DOT) and company regulations, policies and procedures.
• Create a team work environment by welcoming new and different work requirements and helping others to accomplish related job results as and where needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

Your Skills & Experience:

• Three (3) years of experience in transportation, logistics, or similarly related field.
• At least a High School Diploma.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain & Logistics, or other similar field.
• Two (2) years of direct supervisory experience.
• Ability to work under a flexible work schedule.
• Team orientation; willing to participate and support all aspects of operation.
• Must be a self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and priority management.
• Strong customer focus, with ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
• Must have strong communication skills.
• English, additional languages are considered assets
• Computer skills; MS Office, ability to learn new programs, platforms.
