Work you’ll do:
The IP and Products Paralegal provides support to the DTTL OGC attorneys focused on intellectual property, software and products and emerging technology matters. The IP and Products Paralegal will focus on intellectual property matters, trademarks and copyrights, domain names, takedown requests, and licensing, but will also assist the attorneys with other tasks as needed, including coordinating intake and assessment and maintaining, organizing and retrieving files.

The IP and Products Paralegal works closely with the attorneys and business teams to ensure intellectual property matters are handled effectively, collaborating with Deloitte teams and functions to gather and provide information. Thus, we are seeking a candidate who can provide extensive assistance with intellectual property matters, specifically trademarks and copyrights, domain names, takedown requests, and licensing. The IP and Products Paralegal will:

Serve as DTTL OGC’s primary point of contact on trademark and IP-related matters for internal business units and external counsel, escalating to DTTL OGC attorneys as necessary

Communicate and coordinate with internal clients, vendors, attorneys and outside counsel regarding IP matters (e.g. conduct preliminary discussions to understand a business unit’s specific solution or service and their medium to long term commercial objectives)

Manage the trademark application process, including intake, collaborating with internal business units across the global organization, engaging and liaising with external counsel on their behalf, and advising business stakeholders on international trademark filing strategy

Review, analyze, and report on comprehensive trademark searches from outside trademark search vendors

Provide trademark and copyright advice to internal business units

Help safeguard the Deloitte brand by working to prevent IP infringement by third parties, in collaboration with the Global and member firm brand teams

Maintain Deloitte Global’s trademark, copyright, and domain portfolios including tending to US and international trademark renewals as well as other related-maintenance matters

Help prepare trademark applications in the US and globally, working with outside counsel

Monitor applications and help file responsive forms

Manage open source review process and review open source licenses

In the future, this role may also:
Conduct, review and analyze trademark searches in U.S. and International databases

aintain and generate docket reports for attorneys

Working knowledge of trademark application, maintenance and defense process (ideally international and domestic)

3-7 years’ relevant experience as an IP/trademark paralegal or other equivalent role

Superior analytical skills, inherent commercial judgment, and high intercultural competence

Strong organizational skills with acute attention to detail, and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects under deadlines

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with and advise business stakeholders at all levels of seniority across the Deloitte network

A high level of discretion and sound judgment

Strong writing and editing skills

Highly resourceful and proactive team player with strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and personal accountability

Paralegal certification – preferred but not required
