Pharmacy Instructional Designer Trainer- Outpatient Pharmacy (Job ID: 5372)Job SummaryUnder minimal supervision and working closely with operationalleaders/staff, this role is responsible for the design, development,and delivery of communication, education and training for users of pharmacyrelated systems and processes. The Pharmacy Instructional Designer and Trainermaintains and updates software training environments, curriculums, ande-learnings and anticipates training challenges and opportunities for new hireand end-user education. Additionally, this role develops heuristics formonitoring training program effectiveness, reviews and evaluates work, andprepares performance reports. The Pharmacy Instructional Designer isresponsible for assuring competency of all staff in assigned area(s) andevidence/documentation of such competency is maintained. Organizing andcoordinating of the department’s orientation program is also required. Thisrole will oversee pharmacy technician students and interns as needed.Responsibilities1.Analyze content, target audience, job tasks, and learner environmentto identify appropriate instructional strategies and define learningobjectives2.Design, develop, and revise training curriculums and job aids based oncurrent workflows/standard works, collaboration with stakeholders, and athorough understanding of the supported pharmacy systems. Possible types ofmaterials created include written materials, electronic programs, etc.3.Communicate workflow changes, the decisions that underly them, andrelated new functionality to the end-users4.Create computer-based training content that meets user needs and organize alearning management system to track all trainings5.Project management, including the creation and management of timelines andmilestones6.Helps convey the workflows and how the application functions to the end-usercommunity throughout the training process7.Act as liaison with users, taking time to understand their needs anddeveloping relationships through interpersonal skills and effective,consistent communication8.Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to develop and modify instructionalmaterial9.Incorporate feedback from peers and leadership to help improve designprocesses10.Responsible for outpatient pharmacy competency program. Develops annualplans for competency verification based on staff needs, hospital strategicplan and regulatory requirements11.Performs Quality Assurance reviews of new hires to assess the effectivenessof the training and the readiness of the new hires to perform the required jobfunctions, as assigned12.Treat coworkers, patients and visitors with courtesy, dignity,empathy and respect13.Lead training sessions for individuals and groups and be able to improviseif technical, logistical, or other issues arise14.Oversee technician students during their externship15.Oversee the pharmacy technician training program16.Perform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesMinimum QualificationsEducation1.Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.Experience1.Typically, three years of clinical care combined with some adulteducation, clinician training, patient training, corporate training,or K-12 through post-secondary teaching experience. Prefer experience in apharmacy environment.2.Experience with adult learning techniques is preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities1.Able to evaluate the preferred learning styles of trainees2.Able to deliver effective oral and written communication3.Able to communicate between clinical and technical groups4.Knowledge of pharmacy workflows and a basic understanding of pharmacysystems used in a hospital pharmacy5.Knowledge of instructional design methods and design principles6.Experience developing print, web, and/or e-learning materials usingAdobe Acrobat, Creative Suite, Captivate, Snagit or other tools7.Ability to use audiovisual equipment and create multi-media presentationspreferred8.Experience with Microsoft SharePoint preferredCert
