About the job
As a mentor you will be matched with a range of mentees to provide support and career development.
Mentors will be required to carefully plan and deliver a series of one to one mentoring sessions. The content and format of these sessions will be agreed with each allocated mentee, but should be based on identified effective practice and techniques. All mentors will be required to complete training and an accompanying handbook will be provided.
We are looking for people with recent successful experience as CEO/principal or college finance director, with demonstrable achievements in leading an FE institution or the financial strategy of an institution.
The programme will benefit either CEO/principals, finance directors, chief operating officers or other senior leaders and managers. Mentors will therefore need to have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the FE context at a senior level.
We are looking for people with a willingness to communicate what they know. This means sharing with your peers and mentees what you have learnt in a way that they can understand and reflect on.
You will need to be approachable and willing to listen to different perspectives so that your support is meaningful and helpful. You will need to deploy honesty and tact. You will be curious, committed to supporting individual development using a reflective approach. You will be objective and fair in your interactions and at all times be compassionate and genuine in your dealings with mentees.
