ABOUT THE TEAMS

PACE
The Service Delivery Office Productivity and Automation Centre of Excellence (PACE) team work with business processing teams in the SDO to automate repetitive, rules based work using Blue Prism Robotic Process Automation (RPA) software.

Working in PACE presents a unique opportunity to be involved in innovative service delivery arrangements, with an approach to collaboration and sharing of resources that has the potential to add value not only for existing customers but to set the scene for new ways of working across the Australian Public Service.

Business Optimisation
Business Optimisation was established to assist Finance business areas to assess their current processes and activities to identify opportunities to reduce effort and risk through automation, digitisation and process re-engineering.

The team take an overarching whole-of-department view of business processes and workflows and identify ways to streamline / dovetail these across the department.

The team consists of professional business analysts, data specialists, automation engineers and project managers. Members are trained in a variety of methodologies and tools to ensure their recommendations are business focused and not limited to one solution.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES

APS 4 Junior Automation Developer

The Junior Automation Developer is responsible for:

• working with subject matter experts to define configure test and release automated business processes
• designing automated process solutions following standard design principles and conventions
• executing processes and practices efficiently and effectively to enhance commercial outcomes in the department
• documenting processes and solutions and testing automated processes
• supporting other areas by contributing to the establishment and implementation of new services and systems within the agency
• liaising with internal and external stakeholders
• developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders to drive business
• keeping up-to-date with latest trends in automation and having a willingness to learn new emerging technologies.

APS 5 Automation Developer

The Automation Developer is responsible for:

• working with subject matter experts to define, configure test and release automated business processes
• working under some direction to follow standard design principles and conventions solve problems and share knowledge to build capability in others
• managing time effectively to deliver automated solutions within prescribed timeframes
• designing automated solutions following best practice design principles documentation and governance standards
• designing innovative automated solutions through the use of complementary technologies
• drafting delivery documentation following best practice design principles
• supporting the daily administration of the Blue Prism environment by problem-solving issues and following change and release process
• supporting business clients during supervised release and production rollout
• developing and maintains strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders to drive business and build the team brand
• keeping up-to-date with latest trends in automation and having a willingness to learn new emerging technologies.

APS 6 Senior Automation Developer

The Senior Automation Developer is responsible for:

• working with subject matter experts to define configure test and release automated business processes
• leading automation practices in solution design solving problems and sharing knowledge to build capability in others
• managing time and competing priorities to deliver automated solutions within short delivery timeframes
• analysing process automation opportunities for automation feasibility and effort
• designing automated solutions following best practice design principles documentation and governance standards
• designing innovative automated solutions through the use of complementary technologies
• drafting delivery documentation following best practice design principles
• supporting the daily administration of the Blue Prism environment supporting existing automated processes by problem-solving issues and following change and release process
• supporting business clients during supervised release and production rollout
• developing and maintains strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders to drive business and build the team brand
• keeping up-to-date with latest trends in automation and having a willingness to learn new emerging technologies.

ELIGIBILITY ADVICE & CANDIDATE NOTES

• Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
• Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
• This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing. Roles may be offered as either ongoing or non-ongoing subject to business needs and/or candidate preference. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled as a specified term vacancy for an initial period of 12 months. Specified term vacancies may be offer for a maximum of 18 months initially, and be extended up to a maximum period of three years.
