EMV has a 12-month fixed term opportunity for an experienced and skilled Senior Software Engineer to bring their talent to the next stage of technology and software development within the emergency management sector.

Working in a highly skilled team, the Senior Software Engineer is primarily responsible for taking a lead role in developing, managing and supporting key technology and software applications that will enhance the operational management capability across the emergency management sector. This role will require someone with exceptional skills and experience across a broad range of technologies.

Key accountabilities include:

• Build and maintain internal and public-facing systems and web services that provide timely, tailored and relevant emergency information for the Victorian community.
• Providing exceptional technology leadership, support and assistance to EMV and stakeholder agencies, including being responsive when the State Control Centre is activated to ensure operational utilization of key systems.
• Mentoring and developing the skills of other software engineers within the team.
• Leading internal and external developers, reviewing their work, providing feedback, and instructing on development best practices..

To be considered for this role you will have:

• Demonstrable experience in developing software, system integration and infrastructure solutions particularly using cloud-based technologies in an agile based environment.
• Experience with fundamental front end languages (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) with a solid understanding of UX design principles.
• Demonstrable experience and proficiency in node.js and Java code development as well as relevant frameworks, libraries and functions.
• Demonstrable skills in using AWS frameworks (SAM, Lambda) and the integration with backend database technology (PostgreSQL / PostGIS) to support highly available and responsive solutions.
