Government House is the DPMC business unit that manages the overall running of Government House to ensure effective support of the Governor-General, including planning and organising all official engagements and functions, and ensuring that the Governor-General is well supported in all settings.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

We are seeking an experienced and creative events professional who can take responsibility for the planning, coordination, and delivery of a wide range of constitutional, ceremonial, patronage and community events. This position works in close collaboration with all parts of Government House, as well as external stakeholders, to deliver high quality events as part of the Governor-General’s programme.

We select on capability and welcome a wide range of applications where the candidate can demonstrate the following

• At least 3 -5 years’ proven experience in event management or a similar area.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working with high profile office holders, and with a wide range of people from different backgrounds and cultures.
• Excellent and demonstrated organisational skills with a meticulous eye for detail.

Key responsibilities of this role

• Responsibility for the planning, coordination and delivery of patronage and community events held at Government House Wellington and Auckland and external events nationwide.
• Responsibility for the management of ceremonial and constitutional events for Their Excellencies including around Waitangi Day, investiture ceremonies, credentials ceremonies, incoming international visits, and liaising with Cabinet Office for constitutional events at Government House.
• Providing collaborative and creative advice to the Team Leader Programme, about event options, risk management, and operational matters.

Please note The ability to travel between Wellington and Auckland, and when requested to other regions, is a requirement of this position.

A competitive salary range of $80,000 – $90,000 p/a (including Kiwi Saver contributions)
