Diesel Mechanic/Fitter Full Time

Our client, based in Gladstone Australia (Coastal Queensland, at the Southern Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef) are a successful, Tier 2 Civil Construction Company in their 30th year of operation. Due to growth, they are looking for Diesel Mechanic/Fitters to work in the on-site workshop repairing and maintaining plant such as dozers, excavators, and rollers. Provided you have the right experience and are motivated to move to Australia, our lovely client will be sponsoring migrant candidates who meet immigration criteria! If you are a New Zealand Citizen, you will not require Immigration Assistance.
  

About you

•  You will have had at least 7 years of experience as a (Heavy) Diesel Mechanic/Fitter
• Qualification in Engineering – Mechanical/Diesel Fitting or equivalent
• Be motivated to move to Australia
• Positive, honest team player
• Experienced in mechanical service, repairs and maintenance working with dozers, excavators and rollers.
• Competent in the set up and use of mechanical equipment including air, electric and hand tools, welding equipment, measuring and electronic equipment.
• Competent in diagnosing, repairing and replacing lighting, instrumentation, ignition and engine management/fuel injection components.
• Able to read plans, drawings and specifications
• Volvo (ideal) CAT and Hitachi experience preferred
• Enjoy fabrication, assemble and installation of parts and materials and complete minor body and trim repairs.
• Hold a clean drivers license and be able to provide all documents required for immigration (if required) including police clearances and be able to pass an Immigration Medical.

  
About the role
  
Initially based in the workshop on one of our Client’s busiest, long term project sites, you will work both autonomously and in a fun team environment. You will use tools, machinery and vehicles to complete tasks associated with your role as a Diesel Mechanic/Diesel Fitter. You will have the opportunity to work time and half (for the 2 hours over 38 hours per week) and double time for hours over 40 hours per week. Working in Gladstone, you will work 5 days on and 2 days off (Monday – Friday).
