Downer Looking for Project Manager (Christchurch) at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand Full Time

Our Infrastructure Delivery Division are involved in some of the most demanding projects in some of the most challenging locations across New Zealand. Our Teams are involved in large scale multi-million dollar projects across all civil infrastructure disciplines. We are currently delivering a number of projects including Arnold Dam, Homer Tunnel, and there are several other exciting opportunities on the horizon in the Canterbury region.

Based in Christchurch, this role will provide a diverse and challenging opportunity to help capture, deliver, and grow our business including the effective and successful delivery of projects managed.

Reporting to the Regional Operations manager, as the Project Manager you will provide leadership and direction across the project teams which include Engineers, Supervisors, Forepersons, Administration and Sub-contracting staff, providing the link between the frontline workforce, our customers and the communities we live in.

Skills

This role demands flexibility as there will be opportunities to work around the South Island, Milford Sound/ Southland, Nelson, Queenstown, Blenheim and Christchurch to name a few. We have multiple projects and we are looking for individuals with the following skills and experience:

• A formal civil engineering qualification (BE, NZDE) is preferable
• 5 + years’ experience in a civil engineering position
• Ideally experienced with bulk earthwork, concrete and civil construction
• Experience in reviewing technical drawings and design is desirable
• Excellent organisational skills and demonstrated customer relationship management skills
• Sound project or engineering operations experience, including budget management
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong commitment to Health & Safety initiatives
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
• Experience in leading, facilitating and inspiring a team of project staff
• Excellent commercial acumen
• Strong track record in the delivery of successful projects
