This Intelligence Research Specialist (Liaison Intelligence Coordinator) position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Intelligence Division, Office of National Security Intelligence (NN), Intelligence Community Integration Section (NNI-CIA), in McLean, VA. Assist Intelligence Community (IC) officials in determining the state of collection, analysis, or intelligence operations resource gaps; Provide assessments of Special Intelligence production for DEA objectives and value to address foreign threats to homeland security, identifying, and formulating strategies to mitigate gaps; Review and interpret policies, instructions, procedures, and methods associated with the evaluation and analysis of data classification, declassification, and protection of classified national sensitive information; Perform routine intelligence research functions by maintaining situational awareness of significant issues affecting national intelligence counternarcotic and transnational crime issues related to the US homeland security and the broader community; Provide analytic production strategies to ensure that major shortfalls on counternarcotic and transnational organized crime issues are being examined either as a community or by individual analytics; Collaborate with DEA Liaison officers assigned within the IC focused on national intelligence counternarcotic issues and transnational organized crime issues related to the U.S. Homeland and facilities improvement of DEA/IC efforts; Represent DEA at internal and external meetings and conferences on national intelligence related to counternarcotic IC issues; May be required to testify during career as an Intelligence Research Specialist. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-14: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 Federal grade level performing such duties as providing direction and leadership to a multi-agency staff engaged in the collection, analysis, evaluation, production, and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence in support of drug law enforcement activities; and performing preliminary research, analysis and evaluation of raw intelligence data for segments of large research projects and studies. *This position is at an IC agency and you are required to successfully complete a variety of security requirements before you are able to start this position. This position requires a polygraph that will be adjudicated by the IC agency before you can start this position. The polygraph may be administered by DEA or the IC agency depending on availability. You will be required to meet a variety of other security protocols before you can start this assignment. It is at the discretion of the IC agency to change those protocols at any time and if they do change, you will be required to meet the new protocols to continue in this position. At this time, the additional protocols include: a financial background check, a medical clearance and a psychological evaluation. In addition, since this is a detail position, DEA is required to obtain DAG approval prior to you starting this position.
