Responsibilities & Duties:
Reviews manufacturing order variances and reports on excessive variances before the full system closure of the order.
Interfaces with sales, product management, and supply chain teams to develop the production schedule to meet customer requirements.
Monitors production schedule performance.
Monitors item stock level consumption, identifies imbalances between stock levels and actual customer requirement and affect ongoing adjustments to assure product availability while avoiding excess inventories.
Determines the present and projected product availability derived from approved supply plan to support sales and operations planning process.
Determines the recommended shipment commitments for all customers orders and evaluates the feasibility of order expedite request based on material availability, schedule, and capacity constraints.
Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects and relays such information to customers or sales reps as necessary.
Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
Initiates and schedules all manufacturing, assembly, test, rework, and project related work orders to meet customer desired dates as effectively as possible given product availability and production capacity constraints (a responsibility shared with planning staff).
Identifies, negotiates, and resolves conflicts with respect to material availability, allocation and capacity constraints.
Prioritizes manufacturing work schedule as necessary when changes are necessary due to component availability, customer requirements or availability capacity.
Analyzes production and order fulfillment performance metrics to resolve issues and identify process improvement opportunities.
Publishes recommended lead times supported by plan and historical performance.
Challenges current manufacturing strategies and processes to assure best customer service levels.
Extracts data from MRP to create analysis tools and measurements to track and repot lead-time, throughput performance, and process changes to build supply chain agility to accommodate limited customer demand visibility.
Interfaces with Quality Assurance personnel to resolve all items requiring product disposition before setting manufacturing schedule.
Determines promise dates for monthly shipments and provides support to production meetings.
Verifies and maintains all work orders per customer order requirements and follows all work instructions as required
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Reading, writing, and mathematical competency testing required
Minimum of three years of production planning/inventory control experience.
APICS certification preferred, not required.
Strong experience with MPR environment to support mix mode build-to-order using captive and contract manufacturing resources.
Superior computer skills using Microsoft Office.
Familiarity with the assembly process .
OCCUPATIONAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work in a team environment.
Experiences with sales execution and inventory operations planning processes, scheduling optimizing tools, and Lean Principals implementation.
Strong analytical, organizational and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily office environment
20% of this position is done in the manufacturing plant taking physical inventory, wearing steel-toed shoes, walking onto the production floor, checking stock in the production areas and wearing safety glasses
