This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our Special Educational Needs and Disability Assessment and Review Team (SENDART) for a fixed period to cover secondment. We are passionate about promoting high aspirations and expectations for children and young people and we are now seeking a like-minded individual to join our team to support the growing number of children and young people in the East Riding with SEND (0-25 years) and their families.
This post will support the statutory EHC plan annual review processes, ensuring that we are able to provide both a timely and quality service, to secure the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEND. This is an exciting time to be joining us on our journey of development and be part of a team that is ambitious and aspiring to provide outstanding services to the children and young people of East Riding of Yorkshire and their families.
We are looking for a dedicated, organised, and resilient individual with excellent communication skills to join SENDART as an Assistant Education, Health and Care Officer (AEHCO). You will join a busy, fast paced team working closely with Education Health Care Officers (EHCO’s), educational settings, professionals and families of children and young people with SEND to ensure the effective delivery of EHC plan annual review processes against statutory timescales. Working closely with the area Senior EHCO’s, you will lead on the co-ordination of annual review activity within a given geographic area, ensuring that educational settings have the information and guidance they require to hold high quality EHC plan annual reviews. You will help to ensure that contributing information to annual reviews is high quality and meets statutory requirements to which the LA must adhere.
This is a challenging role that requires the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships therefore good people skills are essential. You will act with a degree of autonomy and be expected to take a proactive approach to problem solving and contributing towards service improvement, informed by the desire to help achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEND in East Riding.
You will be educated to A Level standard or equivalent, preferably in a related field, and have experience of working with children, young people with SEND and their families. You will also have experience of working with families in relation to difficult / sensitive issues. Ideally you will have a sound working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2015, in particular chapter 9, or be willing in acquire this upon starting in the role.
The role is offered at Grade 7. The post is fixed term for one year to cover an internal secondment and will cover a given geographic area of the East Riding. We offer the opportunity for blended working, including working from home and some office-based working hours.
