Job Description

Control Systems Engineers in the Engineering & Reliability Services Department, DCS Group, provide engineering, platform, and process control support to plant operations, maintenance, and project teams for the installed base of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) at the Longview, Texas site.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide control system engineering technical support in a chemical manufacturing plant, primarily at the Longview, Texas site, but for other sites as requested. * Implement control strategies to optimize process reliability and throughput, including loop analysis, loop tuning, feedforward/override control, automated sequences, machine control, and alarm management. * Provide industrial communication support and design, including networking and system interconnectivity, primarily leveraging Modbus in addition to other protocols. * Perform control system configuration and checkout activities to support capital projects. * Coordinate software and hardware upgrades. * Determine scope of work for control systems portion of projects. * Provide control system equipment specifications and bills of materials to support procurement and construction activities for projects. * Participate with DCS Group team members on improvement projects, standards, and best practices related to control system applications. * Provide on-call control system support for operations and plant maintenance on a rotating schedule. * Stay abreast of new control technologies and other industry practices through attendance at user symposiums, meetings with vendors, vendor training, and review of industry literature. * Prioritize work assignments based on the safety, environmental, regulatory, and economic value to Eastman. * Perform duties with attention to safety in both work practices and design. * Perform duties with a focus on teamwork and customer satisfaction.

  Job Qualifications/Skills

Preferred Experience: * Experience with Emerson’s DeltaV DCS, Rockwell Automation PLCs, Triconex SIS, ClearSCADA, ABB Infi90, industrial communications and networking technologies. * Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. Chemical Engineer considered with strong electrical and communications experience and appropriate control system platform experience. * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills around process control and automation challenges. * Able to effectively self-manage a demanding workload. * Able to work effectively in a team environment with personnel from diverse backgrounds. * High level of initiative and collaboration. * Very service oriented and customer focused. * Experience with management of change and maintaining technical documentation. * Strong commitment to personnel and process safety. * Strong written and oral communication skills.
