The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Search team in various tasks related to software development and data integration. The primary focus will be on upgrading existing systems and optimizing search functionalities. The intern’s responsibilities will include:

• Software Upgrades: The intern will work on updating data pipelines and microservices from older versions of Java (Java 8) to the latest Java version and from an older version of the Spring framework (Spring 1.5) to the latest Spring version. This task will involve understanding the current codebase, making necessary modifications, and ensuring a smooth transition to the updated versions.
• Integration of Search Functionalities: The intern will assist in merging the vector search and regular search capabilities into a single Elastic search index. This integration aims to streamline the system, reduce costs, and enhance the overall search experience for users. The intern will collaborate with the team to understand the requirements, implement the necessary changes, and ensure the smooth operation of the unified search functionality.

The intern will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in software development practices, programming languages, and frameworks while working closely with experienced team members. Additionally, the intern will have exposure to different domains, fostering a broader understanding of real-world applications. The intern will help enhance system performance, reduce complexity, and support future development efforts.
