The Electoral Commission is recruiting for a manager with operations delivery experience for the General Election in 2023.

We are looking for a person to join our enthusiastic team.

You will be responsible for managing a centralised team delivering voting services to voters who wish to participate in the General Election who:

• are located overseas.
• are living or working in remote New Zealand locations.
• are blind, partially blind or who are unable to mark the voting paper without assistance (via dictation voting).

This is a challenging role, where you will be managing the delivery of a variety of tasks that include:

• Undertaking testing to ensure the operational readiness of services delivered by the centralised team
• Building a team by recruiting key support employees
• Scaling up recruitment to an estimated 200 employees to meet the delivery needs
• Managing the successful delivery of the voting services and counting the votes received, for inclusion into the official results for the General Election

You’ll be working with knowledgeable employees from across the Commission to enable you to understand the requirements of the role and meet legislative requirements.

You will work with key external agencies to ensure voters are informed and able to participate in the 2023 General Election.

The role offers the opportunity to be part of a team that has a clear focus on the customer. You’ll have strong people management skills and a proven ability to build teams. You will also have a proven ability to deliver complex operational projects, meeting key outcomes and objectives.

To be successful in this role you need to demonstrate:

• leadership, communication, and proven ability in relationship management
• ability to build a diverse, high performing team
• ability to plan and deliver an operational event to tight deadlines
• knowledge and awareness of different cultures as part of recruiting a diverse work force
• sound working knowledge of the Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• sound judgement and decision making.

The role is fixed term until December 2023 and will require you to be flexible in how you work, as you may be required to work across offices located in Wellington City and Lower Hutt.
