Emerge Aotearoa is a social services organisation providing a range of services to whānau, including health and disability, youth and emergency housing. Our kaimahi all have a common goal – helping people realise their potential with the aim of supporting people to live their best life as independently as possible.
Based in Rolleston, you’ll support one client in a bespoke residential service. You’ll be part of a supportive team with a manager who cares and wants to see you thrive in your role.
He kōrero mō te tūranga – The role
This role involves supporting a client with autism with daily activities such as taking them on activities in the community such as beach walks, drives etc. You’ll follow daily routines, a planner and complete notes.
You’ll help with preparing meals, housekeeping and infection prevention control.
This is a fixed-term position working on a rotating roster. You’ll shifts will predominately be 7am – 3pm and 2:30pm – 11pm, with a sleepover shift ever six weeks.
He kōrero mōu – About you
The work you will undertake in this role can sometimes be challenging and resilience is a must have quality for this role. You’ll need to have the ability to remain calm, practical and rational when in complex situations or incidents.
This role will be structured in nature and the ability to work within a set routine is important. In return you’ll be able make a difference and help our tangata whaiora to realise their potential.
You will need to be comfortable working in a hospital environment, preferably have experience working with clients with autism and an awareness of sensory issues.
Communication skills are vital in this role and a level of fitness is required to encourage and participate in activities outside of the facilities.
