Emerge Aotearoa is a committed Tangata Tiriti organisation and a national provider of mental health, addiction, disability, correction services, well-being, and housing services. We’re a not-for-profit organisation employing 1300 kaimahi and providing services across New Zealand. The core values of the organisation are based on Māori concepts Whakawhanaunga, Manaakitanga, Ako and Whakamana.
He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role
We provide is a 24 /7 Housing and Recovery Services that provides Day time and Awake Night support services and community-based services. The service is located on a single site in Whakatane supporting up to 6 people on site along with others in the community. Joining a passionate and supportive team, you will work alongside other kaimahi to help them to reconnect and live as independently as possible. We have a positive and supportive team culture and offer opportunities for ongoing learning and development. Our services are committed to Realising the potential of tangata whaiora and provide mana-enhancing services that promote health and well-being for individuals, family/whanau, and communities.
Rostered shifts are between 7.00 am-3.30 pm, 9 am-5.50 pm, 3.00 pm-11.30 pm, and Wakeover 11 pm-7.30 am, Monday to Sunday.

Given the nature of the service, we are looking for people who are active, resilient, solution-focused, naturally energetic, have a passion for well-being, and give things a go. You don’t need to have a qualification, but you’ll need to be willing to complete one with us. You will have a genuine interest in supporting people to achieve goals and a willingness to help them learn new skills and develop community connections, helping them to find independence in getting to and from locations in the community in a way that is sustainable. We’re looking for someone with sound judgment and the skills to manage risk and make tough decisions. Some of our tāngata whaiora have experienced trauma, and you’ll need to have the ability to build rapport and assist in redirecting their behavior.
