Job Summary

• Reports to the Social Work Manager. In partnership with the medical team on the Maternal and Child Health Unit, social workers’ focus is to provide support to patients and families on the Maternal and Child Health Unit and in the Nursery. Completes psychosocial assessments, assist with cultural and spiritual issues, provide resources for community services, crisis intervention, assess for safety and protection if needed, and work collaboratively with the medical team to facilitate appropriate and safe discharges.

  Minimum Qualifications

• Education

• Masters in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work.

• Experience

• Hospital experience required

• Knowledge of psycho-social implications of illness and disease on individual and family systems.

• Licensure and/or Certification

• LCSW preferred

• Skills

• Knowledge of Medical terminology.

• Ability to work in a team framework.

• Critical thinking skills.

• Organizational skills.

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.

• Computer skills required

• Ability to maintain confidential information
