The ENMAX Energy Financial Analyst monitors actual financial performance against budgeted and forecasted expectations and ensures the requisite cost models support expenditure approvals and align with business plans, budgets and other financial tracking mechanisms. This includes the development of periodic and ad hoc reports, as well as action appropriate financial transactions to support their assigned functional areas.
Major Responsibilities:

Provide timely and accurate periodic reporting such as actual performance versus planned / forecast expectations and prior period performance

Interpret results of business unit reporting to develop qualitative explanations

Provide assurance that business unit financial statements align with business activities and are in accordance with accounting policies

Contribute to the identification and implementation of financial solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness by eliminating, simplifying and automating processes

Create, run and maintain business area financial allocation models including “what if” scenarios for future business planning decisions

Independently develop ad hoc reports to address issue specific requests for financial information from business partners

Assist in the preparation and submission of budgets and forecasts for all responsible areas

Identify key risks and opportunities to budgets and / or forecasts

Provide fixed asset accounting expertise in support of structuring and setup of project codes and interpret capitalization guidelines
Education Required:
-
University Degree in Business, Commerce, or equivalent with a specialization in Accounting/Finance
-
Professional designation as a CMA, CGA, CA or CFA
Qualifications & Experience:
-
8+ years of progressive financial analysis and accounting experience
-
Superior understanding of IFRS with the ability to interpret and provide detailed analysis of standards and impacts on current accounting policies

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite along with strong financial modeling skills

Experience with translating complex financial concepts into business practices

Experience with analytical and critical thinking in order to secure relevant information/data

Experience working with ERP systems (Workday Financials) is considered an asset

Consistent delivery of time sensitive requests in a dynamic work environment

Independently prepare and deliver meaningful financial results that resonates with a multi-disciplinary audience

Salary: Financial/Business Analyst, Level D (Current CUPE 2022 rates)
$106,530.06 – $113,175.79 – $119,841.36 – $126,487.09 – $133,152.66

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 – 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
