We are looking for a Design Engineer Manager to supervise and lead the design engineering team through technical support, CAD design, review and compliance, process implementation and planning. What you will do:

• Supervise and lead the design engineering team by providing technical support through customer interface, design, review & compliance, process implementation, planning, and production support

• Understand the business environment, and work closely with other departments to efficiently drive team progress, while ensuring projects align with the strategic and tactical objectives
• Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering department
• Ensure documentation of the design process and presentation progress for all stakeholders
• Lead standard practices of packaging documentation, design, testing, and optimization
• Contribute advanced knowledge of design engineering (molded foam, thermoformed, corrugated design, etc.), design software systems, costing, and material selection
• Monitor progress against project schedules and budgets; recommend allocation of resources as required to accomplish goals
• Support manufacturing operations by working with production management in developing solutions to manufacturing processes
• Actively communicate with the leadership team for the continued growth of the business from a design function
• Take proactive measures to solve complex business issues as needed
• Work closely with the design team to develop solutions that solve user problems
• Manage design lab equipment, inventory, and service agreements
• Identify alternative or additional technologies/materials to complement the core services and technologies currently available
• Responsible for assisting in interviewing, hiring, and training employees
• Supports and complies with all company policies and safety requirements
• Performs other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed:

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering
• Related engineering discipline with 9+ years of experience
• Minimum of 3 years leading or managing a small team of designers
• Advanced use of CAD related software such as Solidworks, ArtiosCAD, and TOPS
• Excellent program/project management skills with strong document management
• Experience as a team leader and contributor with the understanding of customer service excellence
• Competent in both constructing and presenting PowerPoint presentations and constructing/analyzing data
• Experience in protective packaging is strongly preferred
