The Utilization Management (UM) Data Entry Clerk works under general supervision to perform various routine and complex clerical and data entry duties as defined in department operating procedures or supervisory instructions; deals regularly with UM and medical group staff in support of referral management and data entry activities; and works directly with UM Specialists to complete tasks. This position requires the ability to multitask and pay attention to detail.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Training in medical terminology preferred. No experience required. Prior experience working in a health care setting performing various clerical tasks including data gathering preferred. Ability to learn, understand and be proficient in the use of the Internet, Email, Word and other programs as needed. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Detail-oriented; ability to work in a high stress environment; and high accuracy rate in spelling and typing. Works with spirit of enthusiasm, teamwork, cooperation and a sense of urgency, and maintains a high degree of confidentiality over all matters in the course of business operations including patient and employee information. Strong skills in record keeping based on computer entry, spreadsheet and/or manual copy as may be required. Typing/word processing skill at 30 WPM or above with accuracy.
