A bit about the team…

• We are a dynamic team working on varied projects and priorities – no two days are the same – we design, develop and support trading risk applications and trade support systems
• You will have autonomy and mastery with your work whilst working within a strong culture of teamwork
• We partner closely with different departments across the business to support trading growth and improve efficiencies, giving us exposure to everything from risk and operations to our trading desks
• We work with real time data to provide order, trade and position reconciliation as well as profit and loss calculations

What the role is all about…

This role will work directly with all technology teams to build our new core technologies. The role will initially focus on post-trade systems, but will provide opportunities to work on pre-trade and execution in the future. It is a fast paced environment where the team works on multiple domains across the business. This role covers all aspects from analysis, development, integration and post deployment support.

What your main responsibilities will be…

• Work as part of a small development team tasked with maintaining and enhancing existing applications
• Enhance existing development toolings and developing APIs and user interfaces
• Work with trading, and technology stakeholders to build and enhance our capabilities within our new technology stack
• Solve challenging business problems using suitable technologies such as; Kotlin, Java, Python, C++, JavaScript, Postgres, etc

Smart, driven and humble. These are the most important things we look for in our new team members. For this role, we would also like to see skills in the following areas…

• Highly skilled in software development with experience coding in multiple languages (e.g. Java / Kotlin / C# / Python / C++)
• Operational experience such as supporting systems in production environment
• Experience working with database technologies such as MongoDB, Postgres, mySQL or SQL Server
• Effective communication, both verbal and written, with the ability to build strong relationships
• Be able to demonstrate a strong interest in trading and the financial markets
• Be able to work well under pressure. This includes being able to prioritise well to meet tight deadlines as well as remaining level headed and pragmatic during real time trading issue events

If you also had any of these skills, it would be an added bonus…

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Familiarity with the event Sourcing/CQRS design pattern
• Experience working in a trading firm
