Data & Analytics Opportunities
At ESB, data sits in the centre of our business, providing insights to support better business decisions. The Data Analytics team is an award-winning group of highly motivated and highly skilled professionals, working to support data-informed decision-making right across the ESB organisation. We work in a collaborative, agile way, interpreting data sets from our financial, operational, network and customer systems.
We are looking for data scientists, data engineers and data analysts to join our growing data analytics team. Senior Data Scientist
Data Scientist
As a Data Scientist you are responsible for delivering business insight through interpretation of large data sets from our financial, operational, network and customer systems. You will work closely with data engineers, data analysts and product owners and lead them to solve business challenges, prioritising, scoping and managing a broad range of data science projects.
Minimum 7 – 10 years of relevant technical or business experience leveraging data intelligence to deliver products and services that drive customer value and new revenue. This should include 2-3 years’ experience using Data Science algorithms and methods to solve business problems using R or Python.
Data Engineer
Working within the Data Engineering Hub, you will work closely with data architects, data analysts, data scientists, enterprise system owners, and business owners to deliver data engineering solutions and pipelines to meet business requirements and engineering standards.
Minimum 7 years’ relevant IT/business experience including a minimum 3 years’ data engineering experience including hands-on development of data pipelines. Significant experience in Microsoft SSIS ETL development and experience with big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Sqoop, Oosie, Hbase, and Hive is also essential.
BI Developer
The BI Developer role is a key role in the support and delivery of a broad range of reporting solutions across the ESB’s highly integrated SAP landscape. You will work closely with customers, Business Analysts and team members to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions.
Minimum 7 years’ experience of design and development of data models in SAP BW 7.x, SAP BW on HANA and SAP BW/4HANA encompassing extraction, transformation, loading to report build.
Data Analyst
As a Data Analyst, you will gather and analyse data, identify trends relating to business performance, customer intelligence and make recommendations for improvements based on this analysis.
A minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience, including a good understanding of Analytics Tools, databases and their capabilities. Experience in designing and developing data visualisations through Power BI or Tableau etc, as well as experience with the full range of activities within the Analytics Team, including S/4Hana, Hana Studio, Analysis for Office, Business Warehouse, Sharepoint and Excel are essential.
Qualifications
Relevant third level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential.

Base Location: Fitzwilliam 27, ESB’s new Head Office, Dublin (Smart/Remote Working suitable)

The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within the jurisdiction (Republic of Ireland), with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.
