The laboratory provides a full laboratory service from wet tissue receipt, through technical processing and specialist reporting by a team of Consultant Histologists.

Due to continued expansion, we now require a:

Laboratory Aide in Histology

We are currently seeking to recruit a Laboratory Aide in Histology Department to join our team at the Eurofins Pathology laboratory in Sandyford, Dublin 18.

Reporting to the Chief Medical Scientist in Histology the successful candidate will be responsible for registration, labelling and sample preparation for samples referred to Eurofins Pathology for medical laboratory testing.

Main Responsibilities:

• To assist Eurofins Pathology in maintaining a high standard in medical testing.
• Provide support to clients and colleagues to ensure a first- class service.
• To maintain and enhance their professional knowledge and skills as required.
• Work with colleagues to contribute towards the continuous improvement of the department.
• Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the mission and values of Eurofins Pathology.
• Assist in the organisation of workload, prioritising tasks to ensure the effective running of the laboratory.
• Observe the strictest confidence when dealing with all aspects of patient and Company information.

Specific Tasks :

• Use of Laboratory Information Management Systems in place in the laboratory.
• To be aware and to be compliant with of all the documentation related to your Department (Training record, SOP’s, Forms).
• Assist in completion of the department’s daily tasks, including work files, to a high standard to ensure patient results are delivered in a timely manner.
• Undertaking of accessioning and grossing clerical workload.
• Perform sample preparation and sample processing in a timely manner.
• Reagent preparation.
• Participate in the management of reagent and consumable stock levels.
• Assist with control of logbooks.
• Pre- and post-analytical storage of samples.
• Ensure all waste is adequately treated and disposed and that all waste is removed as required to the waste facilities
• Advise of any equipment failures or problems encountered in the course of carrying out his/her duties.
• Maintenance of instrumentation.
• Clean/disinfect working areas daily.
• Demonstrate Good Laboratory Practice.

Education;

Leaving Cert or equivalent but science related diploma is desirable

Experience:

Ideally 1 year in a similar role, but not mandatory (can be trained in-house)

Knowledge:

Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

Health Requirements:
