Summary:
Facebook is looking for a Communications Manager to join the Cross App Cultural Moments & Product Equity team. The team’s mission is to innovate the product experience, and encourage meaningful, real-world outcomes, including economic advancement, for the diverse communities we serve. This person will support the company level Product Equity team while working in full integration with equity teams across Facebook and Instagram apps.In this role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to create and support proactive and reactive communications plans for Meta’s company-wide Product Equity work. As the company continues to be challenged to articulate its position on a range of social issues, and support for, and inclusion of, marginalized and underrepresented communities around the world, this person will partner closely across Comms, Product, Marketing, Partnerships, Policy, Civil Rights and Reality Labs to drive integrated efforts. This person will support administering cross-functional integration for a steady drumbeat of tier one and two Cultural Moments, drafting communications strategy and plans, outreach to consumer reporters, writing messaging and press materials, aligning with our international colleagues, and working with key partners to showcase their impact. The ideal candidate will be a strategic, creative and resourceful communicator, able to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously. Must be a self-starter who can work well in an integrated team environment. You should be passionate about the services we provide and the diverse people that we serve.
Required Skills:
Lead Product Equity communications strategy rollout execution, message development and stakeholder management both internally and externally
Bring a product lens to our company Cultural Moments communications driving intersection between Cultural Moments and the Product Equity narrative
Drive social content campaign strategy for Cultural Moments
Support creative strategy development across Cultural Moments and Product Equity Communications, elevating cultural intersectionality storytelling
Media Relations: Strengthen existing and cultivate new relationships with consumer media and relevant influential creators
Enhance awareness of Meta’s core Cultural Moments and Product Equity initiatives internally and across relevant consumer press outlets
Draft and execute communications strategies for upcoming proactive moments
Navigate and respond nimbly and strategically to media inquiries related to Meta’s Product Equity and Cultural Moments work to help shape stories and protect brand integrity
Work closely with cross functional teams to understand priorities, map out timelines and develop and execute culturally relevant communications strategies to break through the noise
Identify, create and execute opportunities to connect executives, community leaders and partners with press aligned with Product Equity and Cultural Moments priorities
Ability to work cross-functionally with various Meta teams and external agencies to drive proactive announcements in a fast-paced environment
Help organize press briefings, media sessions and events
20 percent travel
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or related field
7+ years of work experience in communications strategy and public relations at a PR agency or in-house
Experience with supporting high level executives
Existing relationships with consumer media and experience dealing with reporters on sensitive issues
Experience supporting diversity, equity and/or inclusion efforts
Preferred Qualifications:
In-house communications or PR firm experience
Experience working for a tech company or startup
Experience working within diversity, equity and inclusion space
