Fairview Health Services Hiring for Custodian at Minneapolis, Minnesota Full Time

Overview

Fairview Health Services is looking a Custodian at the Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center (East Bank) in Minneapolis, MN. The position is 80hrs per two-week pay period on the night shift. This is a benefit eligible position.

Schedule:

Monday thru Friday

10:00pm – 6:30am

Responsibilities/Job Description

• Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations and policies, procedures and standards

• Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements to achieve clinical, satisfaction and/or efficiency outcomes

• Cleans all occupied rooms on a daily basis to provide a clean, sanitary environment to the patients

• Prepares discharge units and/or surgical procedure and completes end of day cleaning in surgical procedures rooms to provide a clean sanitary environment to the patients

• Maintains and clean and attractive areas including: maintaining of hard surface and carpeted flooring, cleans offices and public areas, collects and disposes of refuse.

• Cleans up after emergency spills and breakages to prevent exposure to substances that could be safety hazards

• Maintains and performs special work assignments and reports to supervisor upon completion to comply with quality and frequency standards in department policy and procedure manual

• Understands the security requirements of medications and IV solutions

• Restocks paper supplies upon daily cleaning of area to ensure they are adequately filled and maintains linen distribution system to provide user areas with adequate amounts of linen to give patient care

• Mixes, uses supplies and maintains equipment to aid in cost containment and safety

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred

• Healthcare cleaning experience preferred

• Knowledge of and ability to use all housekeeping machinery

Desired Skills:

• Understands the security requirements of medications and IV solutions

• Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English and perform basic arithmetic as necessary for completion of job duties or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Attention to Detail: Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task

• Cleaning Basic Skills: Ability to operate cleaning equipment; familiar with cleaning products, chemicals, and safety procedures

• Computer Skills Basic: Ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (use a mouse, navigate in Windows, Outlook, etc)

• Interpersonal Communication: Skilled in developing effective rapport with customers, co-workers, or families, actively listening to develop a positive connection.
