Field Technical Support – Junior position Full Time

Xsense Ltd is a cold-chain monitoring company.  It’s supply-chain tracking platform offers a full-stack solution for monitoring the transport of perishable goods. Using inexpensive, durable, wireless sensor tags to monitor perishables and communications infrastructure to transfer information from the sensors to the cloud, Xsense Ltd enables customers to monitor the status of perishable goods in real-time or off-line, allowing them to make sense of large quantities of data and to obtain a holistic view of the supply chain’s progress and problems.

Xsense Ltd is looking for a full-time technician to work on installations, installing. configuring and wiring equipment, training customers on the use of our system and hardware, and providing technical support.  In addition, one must be able to perform basic, moderately complex, and complex troubleshooting, and be able to engage customers on a professional level.  One must be able to show initiative, work independently and explain/understand product offerings to our customers and be willing to learn and keep up with technology.   About half of ones time may be spent at customer sites.  Customers are typically in, but not limited to, the food handling business, such as exporters and producers, where temperature and environmental control is paramount.

THIS IS A MIXED FIELD AND HOME OFFICE POSITION.  FIELD SETTINGS MAY BE CUSTOMER OFFICE, COOL STORES, OR MARINE VESSELS.

THIS IS A FULL TIME EMPLOYEE POSITION THROUGH REPRESENTATIVE COMPANY OF XSENSE LTD IN NEW ZEALAND.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare and configure equipment in advance of installations.
• Perform installations.
• Test equipment
• Configure software settings.
• Train customers

• Maintain equipment at customer sites and on marine vessels
• Distribute equipment to customers.
• Perform analysis of operation of equipment.
• Support the promotion, sales and marketing of the Xsense® System.
• Provide local and remote on-line technical support for Xsense® System for customers worldwide.
• Work with 2nd level Support staff to accurately document software and hardware issues
• Perform maintenance and component level service of systems hardware.
• Accept and deliver all service calls assigned within the established service level agreements
• Keep thorough and up to date notes on all existing and target accounts
• Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

Hours: 
• Work hours may be quite long during certain times of the year (tied to the agricultural seasons of specific products).  
• Work on weekends and/or during the evenings are to be expected on occasion as required to get the work done.

Qualifications:
• Secondary school or higher qualifications.
• Ability to assemble and wire equipment.
• Good diagnostic skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to travel as required, 60% of time on road vs. being at home, although most nights will be at home.  Most travel will be around Bay of Plenty and the rest of New Zealand.
• Will be required to gain and maintain induction for access for various ports around New Zealand.
• Languages: English required.  Mandarin, Japanese, or Spanish are highly desired.
• Understanding of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
• Windows / PC experience
• Electronics / electrical experience a plus
• Must be able to work in inclement environments, at heights, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to drive oneself to customer locations and to drive long distances
• Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR
• Ability to pass pre-employment agility test at hire and every 3 years thereafter
