First Class Support provides academic support to students in receipt of disabled student allowance (DSA). We pride ourselves on only employing first class support specialists that are passionate about making a difference to the lives of people studying higher education courses across the UK.
Due to recent demand, we are looking to galvanise our team of highly qualified and experienced specialist support staff. There are currently positions available for trainee notetakers to join our support team in 2022. Trainee notetakers will be recruited at entry level and must undertake our in-house L3 notetaking course (distant learning course). Once qualified, you will be able to support hearing and visually impaired students.
Your role:
This role is in Loughborough.
To support students who require notes to be taken on their behalf. The activity of notetaking is to produce an accurate and legible record of the content of lectures, seminars, discussions, off-campus events etc. in the student’s preferred style and format.
Notes should contain pertinent information from the session (and any questions and discussion if required), may include diagrams and may be referenced to any hand-outs. The notetaker must hand over notes in the agreed format within a specified time frame.
Your Skills:
You will have experience of working with students with disabilities mainly visual impairment and specific learning difficulties. You will have quick and accurate typing skills.
Qualifications/Training:
All candidates should ideally possess a good degree, as most support will be at higher education institutions.

Additional Information:
The working hours vary according to the needs of the student and the academic timetable. We are seeking support workers who are currently self-employed, or in the process of registering as a self-employed professional.
All support workers must be able to receive emails and phone calls when on location. Only the most experienced and qualified support workers will be selected for interview.
