Job Summary
The Yard Assistant will be responsible for safely operating mobile equipment such as lift trucks, Class 8 commercial vehicles and/or yard vehicles to move materials and products between workstations and/or receiving and storage locations. This role will perform shipping and receiving tasks, inventory counts and maintaining yard equipment and rolling assets at the Company site.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate lift truck with capacity ranging from 30,000 to 40,000 lbs. to move and arrange raw material or finished product such as tanks and steel.
• Serve as the main point of contact for all Company drivers, 3PL carriers and vendors that enter and exit the site.
• Physical and electronic inventory control of trailers, parts, and other company property.
• Review, prepare, issue, and process documentation for shipping and receiving for customers, vendors, and FBT/FBL drivers.
• Record keeping included but not limited to updating, sorting, filing, and issuing paperwork.
• Help prevent or resolve discrepancies within the system by providing input and supporting initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the reporting manager.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Minimum of 2 years of general warehouse or distribution center experience.
• Class A driver’s license, clean driving record, minimum of 2 years of Class A driving, preferred.
• Strong ability to work independently and remain self-motivated with minimal direct supervision.
• Safely operate equipment or machinery as required, including forklifts and yard trucks.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office XP; Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent communication and verbal skills.

Working Conditions

• Non-smoking environment.
• Outdoor industrial yard with exposure to high and low temperature conditions, high noise level and frequent dust.
• Prolonged periods standing.
• Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching.
• Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of inspection tools and performing torquing operations.
• Frequent climbing and working at heights; including the climbing of stairs or ladders.
• Able to lift, push, pull, carry or move a minimum of 70 pounds.
