Fitness First Hiring for Cloud Engineer | Brisbane Job at Brisbane, Australia Full Time

The Opportunity: Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting permanent opportunity for a talented Cloud Engineer to join the Fitness & Lifestyle Group Tech team. As a Cloud Engineer at FLG you will take responsibility for the operation of our Azure Cloud Systems. Tasks will include the maintenance of system uptime, deployment automation/processes, performance monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance and cost optimisation.

Within this role there will be a large focus in assisting FLG in migration exercises from on-premises data centers to Cloud-based infrastructure. Key duties and responsibilities include:

• Proactively participate in the planning, building, testing, and deployment of improvements to the IT environment
• Delivery of all primary and supporting systems into Cloud platforms. E.g. on-premises data centers, applications, network
• Build engineering automation and productivity tools to streamline and scale applications in the production environment
• Build from the ground up reliable infrastructure services in Cloud platforms to deliver highly scalable and secure services
• Improve systems logging and benchmarking in order to fine tune application infrastructure and gain better insight into system issues and performance
• Work to decrease hosting costs by using proactive and responsive auto-scaling and changes to technology solutions
• Ensure changes made to the IT environment are performed in a controlled manner to maintain a stable and secure environment

About you: We are looking for an outcome and delivery focused Cloud Engineer who can (on occasion) operate within tight deadlines. You will be proactive, contributing to the planning, building, testing, and deployment of improvements to the IT environment and wider team goals. You will be keen to make your mark with the confidence to use your skills in a challenging role and innovate solutions. Knowledge and experience:

• Proven history as a Cloud Engineer, utilising Azure
• Previous experience in a 24/7 high-availability production environment
• Experience in designing high availability applications on Azure or AWS across availability zones and availability regions
• Experience in designing applications on Azure or AWS taking advantage of disaster recovery design guidelines
• Sound knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python
• Knowledge and support of Windows Server and Linux operating systems
