Our Voice Clients team is looking for an energetic and experienced Staff Software Engineer who is passionate about creating robust, mission critical voice client that are very important part of Five9’s contact center solution. In this position you will need to work on many different technologies like SIP, RTP, WebRTC, VDI etc. You need to have hands on experience in software development (C/C++/JavaScript), and able to work independently with product managers and cross teams. You are a problem solver and able to investigate and debug problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be part of an agile team to develop a scalable, highly available global voice platform
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Engineering leaders and test engineers
- Understand performance and scalability principles and apply when developing software
- Be able to document and communicate clearly
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of senior industry experience in software development, configuring and troubleshooting systems
- Hands on experience in writing code in C, C++
- Hands on experience in writing backend code in JavaScript (Node.JS) with front end frameworks using React.js highly desired
- Experience in troubleshooting tools, audio media analysis and good debugging skills needed
- Hands-on knowledge of major public cloud platforms (such as AWS or GCP)
- Experience deploying applications packaged in Docker containers
- Experience working on complex problems and systems
- Experience working within an Agile/Scrum team
- Positive, self-motivated and enthusiastic attitude with a strong-sense of ownership
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Preferred Skills
- Industry experience in software development and troubleshooting VOIP systems
- Thorough understanding of VOIP protocols like SIP, RTP, RTCP, WebRTC
- Experience in coding in Java and scripts is a plus
- Prior experience in building telephony systems using Asterisk, Freeswitch and Kamailio is a huge plus
- Experience with virtual environments like Citrix and VMware is a huge plus
- Expertise configuring and maintaining popular real-time communications software (e.g. Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, OpenSIPS, etc.)
