The ideal applicant will be a hunting specialist, with extensive hunting, outdoors and firearms knowledge. However a skilled salesperson with general sales experience will also be considered. Â
Skills and experience
-A love of the outdoors is a must. With specific Hunting and/or Fishing knowledge a definite advantage. A hunting or salt water fishing specialist would be ideal.
-Outstanding communication and customer service skills
-Previous retail sales experience with a strong sales history
-Excellent personal presentation
-Currently active in outdoor pursuits
-The desire to work hard and get the best possible outcome for both the customer and the business
-Basic computer skills
-Able to work a flexible roster, including weekends and holidays-Previous sales experience with a strong sales history
-A clean police record

About the business and the role
Hunting and Fishing New Zealand is a pure Kiwi brand with each store individually owned and operated, we pride ourselves on being responsible retailers and represent the Outdoor leisure sector with pride. There are 40 stores nationwide and each store has specialist staff. We live and breathe the outdoors, and our staff really live up to the “Out there doing it” mentality that we promote. We lead the industry in our field and are very supportive of community associated events. We are major sponsors of The Matt Watson Fishing Show and The Red Stag Hunters Club, our stores pride ourselves on being one big family.
As a member of our sales team you will be responsible for not only serving customers, but also helping to maintain efficient stock levels, following up on customer enquiries and optimising product displays. You will be expected to work positively and proactively with all members of our staff to maximise sales in all areas of the store. You may be responsible for re-ordering the product related on a weekly basis and will need to liaise with other staff to ensure special customer orders are completed effectively and in a timely manner.
This is a full time, 5 day a week position. As we are a 7 day a week operation you will also be required to work some holidays and weekends.
We are ideally looking for a hunting specialist, but also have openings available for general sales as well as part time sales.

Job tasks and responsibilities
-You will be responsible for not only serving customers, but also helping to maintain efficient stock levels, following up on customer enquiries and optimising product displays.
-Keep your area of the store tidy & well merchandised
-Manage inventory in your area of responsibility. This means creating displays, organising product, ordering product and maintaining stock accuracy through regular stock takes.
-Dealing with suppliers regarding product orders and returns
-Use till and EFTPOS correctly. Give correct change.
-Provide the customer with the best gear and advice. It’s a key part of what we do and who we are. You will be required to give specialist advice to customers and help them select the best gear to get them Out there doing it and having a great time.
-Engage with customers, not only to sell them products, but to create a great, long-term relationship & to provide an excellent shopping experience to all company customers..
-Work as a team to assist other staff members with customers and other general tasks in store.
-Ensure special orders for customers are completed effectively and efficientlyÂ
