FlyOver America is a dynamic visitor attraction that opened at the Mall of America in spring 2016. A flight simulation ride like no other, guests will soar across some of America’s most spectacular sights with the latest in flight ride technology. In addition to a spectacular film, the ride’s dynamic seating system and special effects including wind, scents and mist combine to create a truly immersive flight experience!
FlyOver America is searching for a proven leader to take on the integral and rewarding role of Technical Manager at FlyOver America. The Technical Manager will oversee the management of the building facilities, ride maintenance, audio visual components and some IT functions while working closely with the General Manager and consultants to achieve these goals. The Technical Manager will lead and manage a small team of ride operators, maintenance and IT crew from day to day operations to launching of seasonal shows.
The successful candidate will possess an entrepreneurial spirit and proven management and team leadership experience. They will also demonstrate high levels of proficiency in and understanding of mechanical, electrical, and computer systems.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure the smooth operation of business systems including, but not limited to, ride, facility, ticketing, and show systems

• Manage, recruit and schedule operations and maintenance teams

• Ensure a safe environment for both guests and employees through workplace health and safety policies

• Ensure effective communication strategies, policies and procedures are implemented, reviewed and maintained both internally and externally at all times

• Demonstrate high levels of commitment, organization, flexibility and innovation at all times

• Keep abreast of industry developments

• Effectively build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the organization and with our landlord, contractors and suppliers

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Technical proficiency and background with a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and computer systems

• Possess exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills

• Available and flexible to work irregular hours including weekends, holidays, evenings and overnights.

• Exceptional problem solving ability and high attention detail

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in networking, hardware and software within a Microsoft Windows and Office environment

• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a technical or building management position

• Strong English verbal and written communication skills to enable effective decision making with management, training users, and to create required documentation

Possess an ability to remain calm and think critically during emergency situations

• Valid driver’s license and vehicle

DESIRED ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

• Theme park ride operation and maintenance

• Medialon Show Control programming

• AV system installation and maintenance

• Theatrical lighting systems experience

• Christie Digital or other large venue xenon projector operation and maintenance

• Basic SQL Server and Windows Server administration

• VFD and DC Servo drive troubleshooting

• OSHA, WHMIS and other OH&S regulations

• Adobe Creative Suite for audio and video editing

• Door access control systems

• Commercial construction and building maintenance experience
