Position Description

About the opportunity
Based at Thornton Park farm, this farm is maintained to a very high standard, flat with excellent infrastructure, established riparian planting, good water, great facilities, equipment, and machinery. The farm operates on a grass and maize system with very little fertiliser use.
You will assist with the management of nutrient application (from manufacturing operations) working to support the needs of the processing sites through the application of wastewater in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. You’ll also make sure that the farm adheres to a proactive and high standard approach to Health and Safety. Our activities are supported by ensuring that our people get home safe at the end of the day.
This position will give you the opportunity to be exposed to the Fonterra owned farm business operations and to support the critical component of providing a ‘licence to operate’ for our manufacturing operations.

About You
You will be an all-rounder, lending your hand to ensuring that the farm operates as a successful exporter of nutrients supplied from manufacturing operations onto farm. You’ll be involved in all farm operations including irrigation, stock work, maintenance and machinery operations.
Your understanding of all things farming positive attitude and willingness to learn will take you a long way. You may already have some previous on-farm experience where you are comfortable safely undertaking farm activities. About the farm
Thornton Park is 280 hectares with about 600 cows. Currently it is split calving herd, but we are looking to transition to all spring calving herd. 50 bell rotary and automatic cup removers. No accommodation is provided, only drive in. Farm is about 5 minutes to Palmerston North city. There are about 5 staff currently and we have an excellent team culture.
