Foodstuffs South Island Looking for Inventory Controller at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand Full Time

Murdoch Manufacturing is a food and beverage manufacturing and packing business based in Christchurch, with a long history of producing a diverse range of products for the retail and food service markets nationally.

Based at our Wigram site, we have an opportunity for someone who enjoys performing in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is paramount. You are someone who is driven to continually seek out process improvement opportunities that realise best practice in inventory movement and control. This key role will provide you with the platform to utilise your existing skills, while continuing to further grow your knowledge and professional development within the organisation, especially as we continue our journey with technology and systems improvements across the business.

Supported and led by the Purchasing and Inventory Manager, you will have responsibility for maintaining the accuracy of all stock levels within the Wigram site and assist with the development of processes to improve the flow and management of inventory (raw & packaging materials and finished goods) across our production units.

Your key tasks will include

• Working alongside Production Planning and Purchasing to ascertain daily movements of materials needed on site – direct from suppliers or from 3rd party storage
• Coordinating movements of inventory onto and across the site with both the warehouse and production teams
• Assisting with on-site inventory management to ensure stock on site is relevant to pending production
• Completion of cyclical and targeted stocktakes, along with follow-up investigations into any discrepancies, to minimise inventory adjustments
• Coordination and control of date-sensitive materials in the business and reporting any concerns in a timely manner to ensure wastage is avoided
• Hands-on assembly and control of 3rd party production material requirements

We believe the successful person will have

• Knowledge of inventory control processes, preferably in a warehousing or production environment
• Great communication skills – both verbal & written, along with computer literacy
• A strong focus on working with others to get the job done. Working as part of the team or individually as needed
• Strong organisational and coordination skills – enjoy utilising your ability and key resources to get results
• A desire to learn and ability to pick up new systems
• The ability to work under pressure and multitask, while not being afraid to get hands-on when needed
• Proven reliability and commitment to supporting the team where needed

The position is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday day shift. Hours of work can be discussed, and while there are operational requirements around key tasks, there are also opportunities for flexibility.
