About the Role:

As part of FTR’s Design team, the Audio-Visual Test Lab Technician will be responsible for the setup and operation of our Test Lab environment. The test lab serves two main purposes, and the successful candidate will own both:

• Maintain the lab for the purposes of recreating problems that are discovered in the field or software/firmware updates that might affect other parts of the environment.

• Modify the lab for the purpose of testing and validating new devices. This is driven by changes in technology, devices that go end-of-life, or forward-looking innovations in our core offering.

  Primary Role Accountabilities

• Configuration, setup, and troubleshooting of commercial audio-visual equipment, including Audio DSP’s (Biamp, BSS), Control Systems (Crestron/AMX), IP based video routing (Wyrestorm, Aurora), and peripherals, such as fixed/PTZ cameras

• Develop and maintain knowledge base articles, technical documentation, and reporting on test results

• Install, configure, and test software as required

• Install, mount, and provision items including but not limited to speakers, microphones, flat screen displays, video cameras, and equipment racks

• Provide regular progress updates for current and outstanding project tasks using Jira

• Terminate and test audio-visual and network connectors and cables

• Assist inventory team with supplier logistics, including loan equipment request, receipt, and return.

• Other duties as required and assigned

  Special Working Conditions

• Interstate travel may be required

• Incumbent may need to be available outside normal working hours should a need arise

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass a security background check

  Essential Work Experience, Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrated experience and familiarity with analog and digital (AVB, Dante) audio systems and equipment, control systems, and video over IP distribution/routing equipment

• Solid networking experience, including switch topography, nets, and subnets, PoE management, port addressing, and allocation

• Intimate understanding of “Installed Sound” environments and the role played by equipment such as audio DSPs, flat screen displays, touch panels/touchscreens, control systems (Crestron/AMX), and ethernet switches

• An ability to read and understand system schematic diagrams and associated technical documentation

• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills a nd the ability to methodically break complex audio-visual environments down into logical sub-systems

• A strong familiarity with functional testing process and best practices

• Ability to apply consistency of standards/procedures & promote efficiencies

• Capability to build strong and effective working relationships with key internal/ external stakeholders, including vendors

• An ability to always maintain a positive outlook and working attitude, with Excellent presentation and reporting skills

• Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive data

• Consistently able to lift 50 lbs unassisted

• Experience working with teams in other time zones
