Working as part of a team of developers, designers, and producers, the Front End Developer will have a key focus and responsibility for the production and maintenance of interactive client-side user interfaces on a suite of projects in unique and creative ways.
Major Areas of Responsibility

• Build HTML(5)/CSS/JavaScript applications and user interfaces
• Day to day problem solving across our network
• Identify and communicate shortcomings in existing sites/sections and improve quality
• Remain abreast of the latest trends in interface design, usability, graphic applications, and HTML development
• Collaborate closely with the development team, producers, and designers to generate ideas and creative solutions to problems
• Provide estimates on time required for given tasks and communicate any changes to these estimates
• Ensure design scope (elements and positioning) outlined in wireframes is fully explored
• Innovate and participate in the ongoing development across Digital websites and other internal tools
• Adhere to standards developed by the in-house development team, including architecture, testing standards, and development standards.
• Implement technical solutions to problems currently existing across our network
• Liaise with designers to ensure active communication and best practices between front end development and design
• Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of site and coding of new/special sections as required by editorial, project managers, and producers
• Remain abreast of front end technologies and techniques in CSS, Javascript (especially latest JS Frameworks), and HTML(5)
• Assist the production and design team in concept creation and brainstorming

Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge Required

• Effective planning, development, and testing of web applications utilising HTML(5)/CSS/JavaScript with appropriate tools, libraries, and frameworks.
• Proven hands-on experience in front-end development.
• Coding and testing skills in HTML(5), CSS, JavaScript, JSON and XML.
• Experience with Backbone JS, Node Js, React
• Adhere to cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility and relevant web standards such as HTML(5), CSS, JavaScript and JSON.
• Experience in developing within WordPress.
• Developed using and understands the need for a JavaScript framework such as JQuery
• Creative approach to developing advanced web UI’s and dynamic website.
• Good understanding of Object-Oriented development.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ideally, have knowledge and experience in automated UI testing.
• Exposure to agile software development methodologies, such as XP or Scrum.
