GAI Consultants, Inc is seeking a Professional Engineer to work within our Infrastructure Transportation Unit. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, varied, and team-oriented environment that will use their technical and soft skills to develop professionally and grow in today’s global environment. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.
Job Duties:
Lead teams in the field of bridge management. Serve as an NBIS field inspection team leader in Pennsylvania and neighboring states. Occasional seasonal travel for bridge inspection with overnight stays.
Maintain NBIS inspection certification. Contribute to NBIS-related documentation including reports, recommendations, and client communications.
Developing Take responsibility for participating in field operations in a safe and healthy manner.
Design of bridges and other transportation structures such as overhead sign structures or retaining walls while working with a team of professionals. Typical duties include engineering designs and analyses to size structure components and connections; geometric layout of structures; development of bid package documents including quantity and cost estimates; construction plan development; and assembling of construction specifications.
Participate in technical and feasibility studies through developing an understanding of appropriate specifications, standards, and design criteria.
Collaborate with engineering professionals from various departments and disciplines to meet client needs.
Use computer engineering programs and CAD to develop detailed designs.
Receive and respond to coaching and mentoring by higher-level staff. Develop skills and competencies in less senior staff.
Minimum Requirements:
Depending on client needs, this position requires local/regional travel and should be expected to accept occasional travel responsibilities.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited civil/structural engineering program.
Maintain a Professional Engineering license in Pennsylvania.
Self-motivated to ask questions, pursue understanding, and develop professionally.
Mathematic, geometric, and computational proficiency.
Ability to communicate in technical writing and technical drawing.
Proficiency in Microstation preferred.
