Garmin Hiring for Optical Assembly Technician at Olathe, Kansas Full Time

Overview

We are looking for a full-time Optical Assembly Technician for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role you will be responsible for assembling and aligning lens sub-assemblies utilizing optical alignment telescopes and product specific tooling.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Complete final assembly of product

• Work in a clean room environment following all cleanliness protocols

• Perform all assembly, alignment, calibration and tests in accordance with Process

• Engineering work instructions

• Strict attention to detail

• Troubleshoot assembly issues and communicate problems with Process Engineering

• Recommend improvements in design and process

• Analyze and interpret test data

• Record results as required by Process Engineering

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, or related Military training or a minimum of 80 hours towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or a substantially related field

• Demonstrate strong and effective verbal and written communication skills

• Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others

• Must possess the ability to lift up to 50 pounds while using safe lifting techniques and standing for an entire shift

Experience in assembly of precision optical components, previous work in a clean room, and classes in Physics and Optics are highly preferred!
