This dynamic position drives enterprise operational efficiencies through automation in cloud as Infrastructure-as-code. Your background is from networks or network security prior to cloud, and you applied your on prem knowledge to cloud and automation in your career. You will orchestrate processes across teams and transform how we work through driving agile automation deliverables. Your job is constantly restructured as automation capabilities change how you manage and operate the cloud the enterprise. You take initiative to increase scale and depth of automation within and across teams.

The position requires someone who understands cloud infrastructure, can apply their understanding to automate operational processes, and persistent in driving cultural change within across teams within the enterprise. Cloud understanding include infrastructure rollout, operation, and troubleshooting in Azure or AWS clouds. Automation tools should include Ansible and broad knowledge of other automation tools with their strengths and weaknesses.

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Cloud and Automation Operations Engineer supporting Office of CIO, you will be trusted to work on multiple cloud and automation technologies as in a key operational position. A typical day will include:

• Identifies, verifies, and remediates inconsistent cloud configurations across Azure or AWS

• Manages cloud operational reporting

• Coordinates across network stakeholders process improvements

• Manages automation code lifecycle

• Ensures that automation code backup and recovery

• Generates automation services in support of cloud and automation operations

• Maintains cloud and automation operational metrics

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Bachelor degree in technical field

• Over 10 years enterprise infrastructure experience emphasized in networks

• Over 2 years of enterprise cloud IaaS experience in AWS or Azure, both preferred

• At least 2 years of experience automating processes

• Advanced network and firewall experience applied to cloud (routing protocols, firewalls, load balancers, etc.)

• Knowledge of cloud and automation maturity paths, ability to drive changes and mature processes through automation

• Ability to troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues in AWS or Azure clouds

• Knowledge of ITIL principles applied to enterprise operations
