GDIT’s Center for Peer Review and Science Management, based in Frederick, Maryland, provides a full range of scientific, technical and administrative support to federal and state grant-making agencies. We are seeking an experienced Product Owner with business process management experience in an Agile environment to support the grants management contract for a state agency funding cancer research and prevention programs. The Product Owner’s duties include the following responsibilities:
Participates in Sprint planning and daily Scrum meetings as part of the Agile approach
Produces the Product Roadmap; manages, maintains, grooms and prioritizes the Product Backlog
Works with technical leads to update the Technology Roadmap for the program
Interacts regularly with client stakeholders
Identifies trends and insights, and develops client solutions based on the insights
Brainstorms new and innovative approaches for client solutions as well as improving use of Agile methodology
Evaluates emerging technologies; provides thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate
Leads a small team of business analysts as direct reports or in a matrixed work environment and interacts with Technical Leads and IT staff (developers and testers)
Analyzes business and technical processes to formulate and develop new and modified business information processing systems
Represents the business unit to define requirements and business cases for the technology developments
Coordinates with business and technology teams ascertaining system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, execution of users acceptance and may coordinate testing, and system techniques and controls
Manages requirements and product features, prioritizing the team backlog of work in alignment with client priorities
Requires knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes, and workflow
Conducts product demonstrations with client and internal stakeholders for work in progress
Conducts research and assessment of business goals and objectives, and align information technology solutions with business initiatives
The ideal candidate is someone with strong Agile and requirement analysis background, combined with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, to prioritize initiatives, manage a small Business Analyst team either as direct reports or in a matrixed environment, work with cross-functional teams, and engage with both GDIT management and client management.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS + 5 years of Product Owner experience
Minimum of five years business requirements analysis experience
Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies
Experience working with Agile/SCRUM writing user stories and following the development process through user story acceptance
Experience with End Users and User Interface Design Process and Documentation
Demonstrated success in releasing products that meet and exceed business objectives
Excellent detailed written and verbal communication skills, as well as user interface documentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal and team building skills , as well as client-facing experience with remote clients
Experience with Altlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional Agile certification
Experience working with data visualization (e.g. Tableau) and Business Intelligence (BI) tools, as well as with data inventory systems
Administrative people management experience (direct reports)
Experience with Grant Management Systems
