GDIT has an opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer working with a large line of business within GDIT that is currently supporting the Defense Information Service Agency (DISA) in the DC Metro area. We are seeking energetic, talented individuals that have a desire to help transform customer requirements supporting the DISA Enterprise Thunderdome Zero Trust Architecture Other Transaction Authority (OTA) contract.
The Senior Network Engineer participates in the planning, analysis, design, implementation, and operations of DoD applications moving into the Thundersome solution. The ability to work in a fast moving, challenging DoD environment is a must. Other duties may be assigned as appropriate for the role.
This position is 100% remote but onsite travel to the VA/MD/DC region is expected, less than 10% travel.
Basic Qualifications:
Active DoD Secret Clearance at minimum
Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
Required Skills/Knowledge:
10+ years’ experience as a network engineer or equivalent role in a Government DoD environment
Proficiency deploying, managing, and troubleshooting both hardware and software network solutions
Understanding of network technologies and principles, security policies, firewalls, and L2/L3 switch and router devices (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba)
Experience with routing and switching protocol standards such as: TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, SDN, and 802.1x
Expertise of information technology principles, methods, and techniques as well as knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment
Previous experience gathering customer requirements, writing, and developing network design and implementation plans
Experience with enterprise network storage solutions (SANs, storage backup and recovery)
Experience deploying and maintaining virtualization technologies.
Familiarity with network performance monitoring tools
Working knowledge of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Framework, SD-WAN, and edge security
Understanding of Identity Management and Authentication/Authorization integration (e.g. Active Directory, SAML, LDAP, MFA, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, etc )
Manages and documents network configurations. Oversees the transition into production process
Develops advanced network engineering ideas and guides their development into a final product
Recommends and implements system enhancements to improve performance, and reliability of the network
Experience troubleshooting issues related to storage and/or networking
Able to create, discuss and explain technical documentation
Self-starting and able to drive projects to completion in a fast-moving environment
Solid communications skills, both written and verbal
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
Experience automating applications and infrastructure in enterprise networks
Experience with DevSecOps concepts, tools and automation skills
Experience configuring and/or utilizing network monitoring/logging solutions
Experience with AWS and Azure a plus
DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or higher)
