GDIT has an opportunity for a Software Development Manager , entrusted to lead a team supporting CMS’s Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Claims Processing System. DME is currently residing in a mainframe environment applying a mix of waterfall and Agile methodologies. You will be managing a team of 10, comprising of 1 Team Lead, 2 Business Analysts, and 7 Developers coding primarily in COBOL.

In this role, a typical day/week/month may include:

• Providing technical, administrative, and operational leadership to your team and their assigned project or task(s).

• Attend daily Stand-up’s; May at times fill-in playing a Scrum Master role.

• Monitor progress of projects assigned to team.

• Participate in weekly Management/Leadership team meeting.

• Participant on weekly Agile Steering Group meeting.

• Participate in PI Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Daily Standup’s, and Release Retrospectives.

• Reviews status of projects, manages schedules, and prepares status reports as needed.

• Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

• Attend/participate in weekly and monthly meetings with the client.

• Responsible for the performance of your team and the quality of their work.

• Manages and directs your resources required to perform assigned project or task(s).

• Supervises assigned staff, may include subordinate supervisors and managers.

• Develops administrative reporting as needed.

• May also perform high level technical services on assigned tasks.

• Conducts planning and provides recommendations to client on task workload.

• Manages risk tracking process.

• Attends customer meetings and provides insight and project statuses.

• Interacts with vendors, other agencies, and other client staff on behalf of the client.

• Coordinates development of deliverables and products.

• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

• Reviews future project requirements and develops strategies for future work.

• Participates in special projects

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS and 5+ years of software management or team lead experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Experience working with and applying Agile practices.

• Experience with claims processing and Medicare

Preferred Qualifications:

• PMP and CSM (Certified Scrum Master) certifications

• Experience with CMMI

• Experience with COBOL programming would be beneficial

The likely salary range for this position is $104,000 – $156,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
