GDIT has an opportunity for a Software Development Manager , entrusted to lead a team supporting CMS’s Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Claims Processing System. DME is currently residing in a mainframe environment applying a mix of waterfall and Agile methodologies. You will be managing a team of 10, comprising of 1 Team Lead, 2 Business Analysts, and 7 Developers coding primarily in COBOL.
In this role, a typical day/week/month may include:
Providing technical, administrative, and operational leadership to your team and their assigned project or task(s).
Attend daily Stand-up’s; May at times fill-in playing a Scrum Master role.
Monitor progress of projects assigned to team.
Participate in weekly Management/Leadership team meeting.
Participant on weekly Agile Steering Group meeting.
Participate in PI Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Daily Standup’s, and Release Retrospectives.
Reviews status of projects, manages schedules, and prepares status reports as needed.
Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Attend/participate in weekly and monthly meetings with the client.
Responsible for the performance of your team and the quality of their work.
Manages and directs your resources required to perform assigned project or task(s).
Supervises assigned staff, may include subordinate supervisors and managers.
Develops administrative reporting as needed.
May also perform high level technical services on assigned tasks.
Conducts planning and provides recommendations to client on task workload.
Manages risk tracking process.
Attends customer meetings and provides insight and project statuses.
Interacts with vendors, other agencies, and other client staff on behalf of the client.
Coordinates development of deliverables and products.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Reviews future project requirements and develops strategies for future work.
Participates in special projects
Required Qualifications:
BA/BS and 5+ years of software management or team lead experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience working with and applying Agile practices.
Experience with claims processing and Medicare
Preferred Qualifications:
PMP and CSM (Certified Scrum Master) certifications
Experience with CMMI
Experience with COBOL programming would be beneficial

The likely salary range for this position is $104,000 – $156,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
