Our work depends on a Technical IT Lead joining our team to support the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) program. VAERS is a post-marketing surveillance system that monitors adverse events that occur after a vaccine has been administered.
This is a remote based role; Candidates must live in the US and strong preference for candidates in the DMV.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Identify and track issues, concerns, and opportunities for improvement of the VAERS projects
Identify and direct resolution of complex hardware/software interface issues
Identify customer requirements, analyze alternatives, and conduct product recommendations related to software, platform, and network configurations.
Prepare reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and present results to management and/or customer
Conduct Change Control Board (CCB) meetings and maintain project schedule.
Serve as subject-matter expert who can easily liaise between IT and other VAERS operations departments.
Advise GDIT/TSS hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, memory, and input/output requirements
Develop logical and physical technology documentation for existing or proposed systems.
Work with the GDIT/TSS team to plan a VAERS cloud migration from an on-premises datacenter
Require and support VAERS use of secure coding practices to ensure protection of all PHI/PII.
Translate business requirements into architecture and design artifacts that ultimately constitutes the blueprint for a solution. Recommend solutions that are secure, robust, and align VAERS project roadmap.
Work with the solutions development team to design, develop and implement software solutions for the CDC and the FDA that meet business goals and objectives.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
BA/BS Degree in related field and 5+ years relevant experience
Experience leading a team contracting with the US Federal Government
Experience with Agile Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall delivery methods for software systems
Experience with a Cloud Migration, especially secure data migration and cost benefit analysis
Well-versed in security as it relates to customer applications and services.
Experience providing mentorship and training to staff; ability to work in a team environment
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Experience working with leadership, technical staff, and client to identify best solutions
Ability to obtain Position of Trust (POT) clearance required
US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
ColdFusion or Java Background
CDC or Federal Health Experience
Comfortable working independently and hands-on to prototype and evaluate custom and third-party solutions and improve customer experience
